Chitosan is a kind of fiber derived from chitin, which develops in the hard outer shells of crustaceans such as shrimp, crab, crayfish and squid. As with other forms of fiber, chitosan is indigestible and moves through your gastrointestinal system without being absorbed.

When traveling through your body, chitosan may bind to a small amount of dietary fat and move it out of the body without it being absorbed.

Due to the solubility and higher density of chitosan in this supplement, it may perform better as a fat binder than regular chitosan does. And this specially processed, high-density chitosan is 90% soluble in your stomach acid after one minute, whereas this may take more than an hour for other chitosan products.
